#3 7 1/2 Habits and Lifelong Learning
I decided to title my blog, Attitude is Everything, because that is what I truly believe. My personal philosophy is to approach life with a positive attitude and always aim to focus on the positives rather than the negatives (which isn't always easy)!
I loved how the 7 1/2 Habits of Highly Successful Lifelong Learners focused on lifelong learning. Lifelong learning is one of the reasons I decided to become a librarian. How cool is it that you can learn new things everyday while getting paid for it at the same time!
After listening to the 7 1/2 Habits of Highly Successful Lifelong Learners, I would have to say that Habit #2 (Accept responsibility for your own learning) and Habit #3 (View problems as challenges) would be the easiest for me, while Habit #4 (Have confidence in yourself as a competent, effective learner) would be the hardest.
I have always found that the best way to learn is to jump in with both feet and not be afraid of failure. In sticking with my personal philosophy, I have found that some of my best learning opportunities have been a direct result of my failures! That is how I know that viewing problems as challenges (Habit #3) would also be easy for me. I have learned that looking at problems as challenges is an effective way to keep a positive attitude, by dissecting a problem and looking for a solution...I've found it is a lot easier to stay positive!
Have confidence in yourself as a competent, effective learner (Habit #4) would be the hardest challenge because it has always been hard for me to be confident in my abilities as a lifelong learner. I can honestly say that I love to learn and love challenges but sometimes feel that is sheer luck rather than skill when I finally accomplish a certain goal.
Maybe by the end of 23 Things, I'll finally have confidence in myself that I am a competent and effective lifelong learner :)
